Day #34 – Display Closed Case Statuses

In the standard Status field of Case object, I have 4 picklist values namely New, Working, Escalated and Closed.  As you can see, the last one is checked for Closed status.

When I’m creating a new Case, I see all the values except for the Closed Status.  Quite weird I thought for it to skip few picklist values.

I checked Record Types, there are no record types for my Case object.  Profile permissions and they all seem fine too.

Solution

Finally, I found out there are separate settings to display the Case fields of type “closed”.  You can find them in Setup –> Cases –> Support Settings.

The setting is “Show Closed Statuses in Case Status Field” a checkbox.  You need to check this box to allow the Closed status to display in the picklist.  There you go, a simple setting.

Use this setting to include closed case statuses in the Case Status field on case edit pages. This lets users quickly close cases without clicking the Close Case button and updating information on the close case page layouts.
